The direct aim of the training in the station of practical operation of extinguishers and firefighting aggregates is to make trainees acquainted with the specifics of extinguishing fires with hydrocarbons using various types of extinguishing agents. An indirect aim is improving trainees’ skills in the proper usage of individual protection equipment.
Applicable regulations and above all logic require practical skills within the operation of portable firefighting equipment from each of us. It may seem like a trivial activity, but in practice our notions differ from reality. The efficiency of extinguishing depends mainly on the ability to use an agent, not only on its quantity. Our station of extinguishers and firefighting aggregates operation is equipped with basins to burn flammable liquids. Various sizes of basins force trainees to operate a firefighting jet skilfully. Trainees have a possibility to test a powder extinguisher, a carbon dioxide (CO2) extinguisher as well as a water-foam extinguisher to compare their efficiency.
